This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of the establishment of the National Group ‘Foundations and History of Chemistry’ (Gruppo Nazionale di Fondamenti e Storia della Chimica, GNFSC). On this occasion, a meeting will take place in the Academy Library on November, 16th, 2016.
The Group was established on May 12th 1986, with the aim of promoting the epistemological and historical study of chemistry in terms of its conceptual structure – per se and in the framework of the evolution of scientific thought – and the creative activity and realizations of chemists. In addition, the Group stimulates studies on the relationship that links chemistry and its protagonists with the political and economical events in Italy and other countries. Every two years, a National Meeting takes place; since 1986, the Proceedings are published by the Academy in the ‘Rendiconti di Scienze Fisiche e Naturali’.
