Sidereus Nuncius Award to Academy member Giancarlo Setti

The National Institute of Astrophysics (Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, INAF) in cooperation with the Italian Astronomy Society (Società Astronomica Italiana, SAiT) assigned the award to Professor Giancarlo Setti in the first edition of INAF-SAiT prizes for various Astronomy and Astrophysics research areas. The motivation published by INAF reads: “… for a long career guided by a clear view of the future and by significant scientific achievements in radio-astronomy, high-energy, physics of galaxies and cosmology and for having driven for decades the growth of Italian astronomy with memorable success – at a national and international level – taking care of all its facets, from the training of the younger generations to work organization, to the realization of worldwide competitive instrumentation.” The prize has been conferred officially on May 15th, 2014 on the occasion of the LVIII Congress of the Italian Astronomy Society in Milan.
