Science libraries between research and collecting Rome – Session 1/2

The theme addressed is scientific book collecting and scientific publishing, on a time span from the figures-symbols of the scientific revolution of the 17th century in Italy to the second half of the 20th century. The conference will take place on December 6, 2023 in Rome, at the Library of the Academy.
It is a history that deeply involves different institutions and personalities, who share a trait of historical sensitivity combined with a passion for scientific research. Even in the world of books, the history of the Accademia dei Lincei and that of the Accademia dei XL, as well as that of Italian and papal university institutions, are intertwined in Rome in an international perspective.

Speakers included Annibale Mottana, Honorary President of the National Academy of Sciences known as the Accademia dei XI; Maria Teresa Biagetti, Sapienza University of Rome; Valentina Sestini, Sapienza University of Rome; Antonio Becchi, Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin; Giovanni Paoloni, Sapienza University of Rome; and Sandro Caparrini.
