Revitalize Lake Chad through EXPO 2105

The  event proposes a first public analysis of the themes that will be dealt with in the international  conference foreseen for October 14th at Palazzo Italia.  The conference is promoted by the National Research Council, CNR, and the National Academy of Sciences. Lake Chad, nestled in the Sahel area in Center and North Africa and surrounded by four countries  – Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Nigeria, supports life for millions of people. Hindering the progressive drying-up of the lake is an international emergency: it would preserve the territory and the inhabitants from an alarming, measureless ecological, human and economic disaster. The event will present synthetically the causes of the drying-up process and the scientific-technological measures suggested to revitalize the Lake in the framework of the ongoing international co-operation initiatives.
