On May 7th, 2015, the 233rd academic year of the Academy of the XL will be opened. During the ceremony, the new members Paolo De Bernardis (Astrophysics), Andrea Rinaldo (Hydraulic Engineering), Giuseppe Scarascia Mugnozza (Forest Science), Margherita Venturi (Chemistry) will be awarded the academic diploma. Prof. Luigi Ambrosio of the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa will be awarded the Medal of the XL for Mathematics and Prof. Francesco Paolo Sassi of Padua University the medal for Physics and Natural Sciences. The newly elected member Andrea Rinaldo, professor of Hydraulic Engineering at the University of Padua will deliver the induction lecture “River networks as ecological corridors for species, populations, pathogens”. Academy member Ugo Amaldi will commemorate prof. Emilio Picasso, deceased in October 2014.
