The Dana Medal of the Mineralogical Society of America is intended to recognize outstanding and enduring scientific contributions through original research in the mineralogical sciences. It was established in 1998 in honor of the legendary contributions to the mineralogical sciences by James Dwight Dana (1813-1895) and Edward Salisbury Dana (1849-1935) and is one of the world’s most important awards in the field.
The Dana Medal 2024 was awarded to Prof. Fabrizio Nestola of the Department of Geosciences, University of Padua, who will be honored at the Geological Society of America conference to be held in California in September 2024.
