Light plays a central role in human life. Light allows human beings to see each other, to see the environment where they live, to locate themselves in the universe and perceive its origin. Moreover, light is fundamental in synchronizing biological mechanisms in man. The nature of light and its interaction with matter has been and still is at the basis numerous fields of science. The use of light, laser light in particular, has revolutionized our way of life due the applications in medicine, in communications, in the energy field and in the efficient and precise manufacturing of a number of products. Lastly, light confers colors to the objects that surround us.

The refresher course is organized by the Academy in collaboration with the Latium branch of the National Association of Natural Sciences Teachers (Associazione Nazionale degli Insegnanti di Scienze Naturali) in the framework of the Academic activities dedicated to the world of education. The aim of such activities is to favor and consolidate over time a permanent dialogue between the world of research and the world of education.
