Academy member Umberto Mosco received the Board of Trustees’ Award of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute as recognition for his continuing excellence in research and scholarship. Mosco pursued groundbreaking research in several areas of mathematical analysis and its applications to partial differential equations and contributed to define a new concept of convergence, the “Mosco Convergence”, for which he is now recognized internationally.
