Antonio Stoppani, whose bicentenary of birth falls, is considered one of the leading figures in 19th century Italian geology. Taking its cue from the topics he dealt with, and above all from some of his anticipatory ideas, the conference, jointly organised by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and the Accademia Nazionale delle Scienze detta dei XL, intends to emphasise the topicality of studies that contribute to scientific knowledge of the Earth System and to the dissemination of the cultural and aesthetic value of Geology.
The conference will be held on September 25th, 2024 at the Academy ‘s library (Scuderie Vecchie di Villa Torlonia, Via Lazzaro Spallanzani, 1/A).
