Gold Medal of the XL to Felice Ippolito

On December 9th, 1996, the Academy awarded the Gold Medal of the XL to Felice Ippolito, professor emeritus of Geology at the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza, realizer of Institutions and Research Centers of international stature, incomparable science communicator, former member of the European Parliament, vice-president of the National Science and Technology Council (Consiglio Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnica) as a recognition of his fundamental contribution to the scientific, technical and cultural progress of Italian society.

The ceremony took place in Rome at the Bologna Hall of the Senate of the Republic; tokens of their esteem and affection as well as of public appreciation for the work accomplished were presented by: Vincenzo Caglioti, Giorgio Salvini, Franco Barberi, Carlo Bernardini, Maria Bianca Cita Sironi, Vincenzo Cotecchia, Aldo Brondi, Luciano Caglioti, Umberto Belliazzi, Luigi Lerro, Emilio Colombo, Mario Pedini.

Prof. Ippolito received the honorary distinction of Cavaliere di Gran Croce al merito della Repubblica conferred by the  Head of State.

 

Gold Medal of the XL to Ernesto Quagliariello

On November 13th, 2003, the Academy presented the Gold Medal of the XL to Ernesto Quagliariello, former Rector of Bari University and President of the National Research Council (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche), as recognition for the fundamental contribution to the scientific, technical, and cultural progress of Italian society.

The Ceremony took place in Naples, at the historical Anton Dohrn Zoological Station.

 

Gold Medal of the XL to Rita Levi-Montalcini

On May 20th, 2009, during the opening ceremony of the 227th Academic Year, the Academy presented the Gold Medal of the XL to the senior member Rita Levi-Montalcini on the occasion of her 100th birthday.

The Ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities Sen. Sandro Bondi at the Academy Library in Villa Torlonia.
