Since the foundation of the Academy, the publication of the Proceedings has always played an important role for scientific achievements. It serves as a fundamental means for developing social relations and promoting the diffusion of scientific activities and history of the Academy.

The “accounts” or “proceedings” of the Academy began in 1782 under the name “Memoirs of Mathematics and Physicsof the Italian Society” and were published biennially. Up until the XI volume (1804) the Proceedings were not divided in two sections except for the years 1784, 1799 and 1803.

From 1979/1980 the Proceeding are divided in two parts – Mathematics Memoirs as part I and Physical and Natural Sciences Memoirs as part II – both published annually.

The volumes contain memoirs, lectures, and presentations given at the Academy’s inaugurations as well as papers by scholars who are notAcademy members. Later on (from 1988) the II part of Natural and Physical Sciences will be divided in two volumes, on alternate years, in occasion of the publication of the proceedings of the National Group for the History and Foundations of Chemistry.
